Childbirth & Newborn Education

The Tulip Grove offers a comprehensive childbirth education series, childbirth preparation classes, and workshops on a wide range of topics, including breastfeeding, newborn care, CPR, baby signing, infant massage, pregnancy nutrition, and much, much more. Our small class size fosters an atmosphere of support, trust and hands-on learning.

Our experienced educators are deeply committed experts and include doulas, lactation consultants, midwives, child psychologists, family therapists, certified nutritionists, massage therapists and others. They are on hand to help you prepare for these life-changing events and approach each topic with confidence.

We keep our class sizes small and offer both pre and postnatal support groups. We also maintain a comprehensive list of local childbirth, childcare and postnatal service providers both in our store and on our website.

We offer a space that is safe, warm and inviting, with plenty of places to nurse your baby.

MOMS' SUPPORT 6 WEEK SERIES: Join this on-going support group where you will meet and bond with other local moms. We offer a safe and nurturing place for moms to share the joys and challenges of parenting.

In this 6 week New Moms' Group you will discover simple and effective strategies to help cope with the many unexpected physical demands and emotional challenges of this wonderous time. Through various self-care practices, you will explore natural ways to restore core vitality and to reduce feelings of anxiety commonly experienced in early motherhood. Additionally, weekly discussions with experts will cover such topics as breastfeeding, fitness, nutrition, and sleep.

Twins by the Bay is a non-profit support group for parents of multiples in Oakland, Berkeley and the surrounding area. Its mission is to educate, support and assist parents in the raising of multiple-birth children.

LA LECHE LEAGUE BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUPS provides mother-to-mother support for breastfeeding. Our monthly meetings are informal discussions focused on all aspects of breastfeeding. Our meetings are EVERY 4th Saturday of the month 10:30 - Noon. Please join us! No pre-registration required. La Leche League is an international non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to providing information, support, encouragement, and education to women who want to breastfeed.

Meet the Doulas Night

What do Doulas Do? Join us at the Meet the Doulas Night monthly information sessions at Tulip Grove

Here is your opportunity to meet several doulas (different each month) who work in the East Bay. They will describe what birth doulas do, how each of their practices work, their levels of experience, and then answer any questions you may have regarding scope of practice, fees, typical doula-client agreements, etc. Each will provide information for future contact.

After the "formal" presentation you will have the opportunity to ask questions and spend some time chatting if you want more specific information from any particular doula.

Meet the Doulas sessions save you time and energy as you don't have to schedule several one-on-one interviews that may or may not find a match for you.
